The NDSU Libraries

The two main libraries that an architecture student will probably use will be the NDSU Main Library and the Architecture Branch Library. You can search all of the NDSU libraries by clicking on the Library Catalog icon in the upper left corner.

Library of Congress: The NDSU Libraries organize their collections based on the Library of Congress system. The classification system guide can be found here.

Interactive Library Guides The NDSU Library in conjunction with the class Academic Success 189 have developed four tutorials to help familiarize students with the library and how to do research. The page can be found here. The tutorials cover useful topics such as how research is done, how to use the online databases, how to evaluate sources, and a Jeopardy style quiz about general library information.

Architecture Branch Library

Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Saturday: closed
Sunday: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Services

Interlibrary loan: This is a service that allows students to request books and magazines from other libraries. One needs to fill out a request form and know which library has the book you want, which you write down under the information source blank. The book request form can be found here, while the peridical form can be found here.

Copy Services: The library has copiers and a scanner available for use by the students. The copiers require cash or Bison Bucks to operate. More information can be found here.

Pull Service Form: Some newspapers and magazines are put into storage, but can be recalled to the main library by filling out this form here.

Docutek E-Reserves: Some articles and information can be uploaded to E-Reserves by class instructors, to later be viewed by the students. You can search by instructor or class department, and often the work uploaded will be password protected, which will you will need to get from your instructor. The page can be found here.

Ask a Librarian: You can use page to contact a reference desk librarian by either phone or email.

Renew Books: To renew books online, follow these steps:

1. Go to the Library Home Page.
2. Choose ODIN, Library Catalog located on the left side of the screen.
3. Choose My Account from the top of the screen.
4. Sign into the library catalog.
5. The User ID is your barcode which is found on the back of the NDSU ID. (201090…..). Do not use the A or B.
6. Your password is your last name.
7. Log On.
8. You will see a list of Activities. Choose the Loans/Renew function, etc.
9. Sign Out, when you are finished.

Other Libraries

There are other libraries on the NDSU Library network where one can search for books. Some of the more prominent libraries include the MSU Moorhead Library, Concordia Library, the North Dakota ODIN Libraries, the Library on Congress, and WorldCat. The complete list can be found here.
