Location
The Fan District is an 85 block immediately west of the Richmond, VA downtown commercial area. The streets that boarders it are Hwy 33/250, N Boulevard, W Main St., N Belvidere St.

The homes were designed and built by relatively few local architects and contractors, and extraordinary variety of styles and building treatments contribute both to the District's distinctive quality and cohesive identity. Italianate, Richardson Romanesque, Queen Anne, and Colonial Revival building styles predominate, but examples of Tudor, Second Empire, Beaux Arts, Art Deco, Spanish, Gothic, Bungalow, and the American Arts and Crafts Movement are obvious as well. The Fan District got its name by the shape district.
Succes/Failure
Its succes is that it has some the oldest home in the city. The failure is that most of them have been converted to apartments.
Strengths/Weaknesses
Some strengths are that it is next to Virginia Commonwealth University. This can be a weaknesses as well. The parking for the parks can be bad as well.
