What Is DC MTN. Lab
DC strives to make the best snowboard gear possible, from the most technically advanced boots to the most comfortable, technical outerwear. the MTN.LAB was created as an extension for theat mission- Its a place where DC riders, employees and guests test product, shoot photos, film for videos, and just plain ride. As snowboarding has evolved, DC's snow program has evolved with it- and as a result so has the MTN.LAB, which since its inception has continued to offer a setting where pro snowboarders can ride and test gear in the most rigorous- and fun- settings as possible.
Creation
The Lab's story began when DC Shoes President Ken Block started construction in 1999. One of the perks of owning a company that makes snowboard gear is testing it, which means Ken was snowboarding- a lot. He'd been traveling to Salt Lake City to ride and test product, as Salt Lake is centeral forto some of the best snowboarding spots in the world. Ken had traveled there so frequently that it was a logical move to put down roots. So that year, Ken bought 22 acres of land outside Park City, high in Utah's Wasatch Mountains. It was a remote setting with more wildlife than people in the region.

Strengths/Weaknesses
The strengths of the Mountain Lab are all geared towards providing a successful Lab while still remaining entertaining to those who live there. The "Park" contains the most popular and frequently used terrain features in the snowboarding world today but still has the ability to be manipulated and changed for any of the variations the boarders can think of. The Mtn. Lab is located in Park city, Utah, one of the most ski/snowboard friendly places in the U.S., and has frequent snowfalls all season to allow constant activity.
One of the drawbacks to the Mt. Lab is that it is in such a remote are, which can be seen as a strength but the isolation from public means isolation from easy food sources, supplies for maintenance, and more importantly from any help say technical help, or worse, medical help. Also the Lab is extremely dependent on the weather, snowfall for boarding, road conditions for travel, or storms for safety.
Success/Failure
Successes include not effecting to local wildlife inhabitants while continuing the numerous development of equipment and terrian features. The success of the site lies in the space avaliable to host several outdoor winter activities, with a focus on snowboarding and skiing.
Failures of the site include the dependency of the winter season and snowfall, and also the lack of avaliable resources to keep the park afloat.
